A New Passport for Fun! June 10, 2019

Hobie has just introduced the new Mirage Passport pedal-driven kayak, and we think it’s going to be a winner!

Ten-and-a-half feet in length, with a steady beam of 34 inches, the thermoformed polyethelene hull is capable of carrying up to 325 pounds. With bungee tie-downs fore and aft, a twist-closure hatch and two rod holders, this kayak will handle all the picnic lunches or other cargo you wish to carry.

At the heart of the Passport is Hobie’s own MirageDrive pedal system with ST fins underneath, and a cable-driven rudder system for easy steering. The pedal drives are designed to work without massive human effort, generating top speeds of almost six knots at an easy pedal rate. The Passport comes with an aluminum frame seat in mesh fabric that’s light and comfortable.

Optional additions include an ingenious bimini sunscreen or Hobie’s adorable sail kit. These new kayaks are also stackable for convenient storage back at the dock. There are twin accessory tracks on either side, so owners can hook up all kinds of extra gear.

Easy to carry, easy to use … Hobie’s new Mirage Passport is a great new addition to their kayak line. And the Ship Store at Fay’s Boat Yard has them all! Come take one out for a spin … you’ll understand why everyone has switched from paddling to pedaling!
